Smoothie is made by blending the fruit with milk or curd. Without discarding the pulp. Not like any fruit juice, where the pulp is thrown away.

Start your morning with this healthy and wholesome drink.

Dragon fruit is filled with antioxidants, with fewer calories. Vitamin C is high in dragon fruit. Sugar content is also low in this fruit.

Ingredients

  • 5 to 6 crushed Chocolate oreo biscuits
  • 2 cups vanilla icecream
  • 4 teaspoon instant coffee concentrate
  • 1 cup milk (chilled)
  • Chocolate syrup (optional)
  • Whipped cream for garnish
  • Some crushed oreo biscuits for garnish

Method

  • In a blender jar add milk, crushed oreos, icecream, chocolate syrup (if using) instant coffee
  • Blend this on high speed
  • Pour this in a serving glass
  • Top it with some whipped cream and oreo biscuits
  • Ready to enjoy
  • If you like add ice cubes also in the Frappe

KitKat Milkshake


If you have tried my recipes you will notice them to be simple, easy and quick to make. As me myself is no complicated person and recipes have to be simple or I’ll create one.

How to make it taste like cafe shop.

Trick here is to use everything chilled or frozen if possible. This gives you the taste.

If you are using frozen milk , then no need of ice. If not then vice-versa

KitKat shake

Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup milk(frozen)
  • 2 to 3 scoops vanilla icecream
  • 2 KitKat sticks
  • Whipped cream (optional)
  • More KitKat for garnish

Method:

  • Take a blender jar, pour milk, icecream and KitKat
  • Blend it for a minute
  • Take a serving glass pipe whipped cream
  • Pour the KitKat shake till half
  • Again pipe whipped cream
  • Garnish with KitKat
  • Serve it chilled
  • Yummy and drooling KitKat shake is ready for this summer.

Note

Use of whipping cream is completely optional, you can skip it and add more scoops of ice cream here.

Winter’s require some extra warmth, what better way than cozying up in your blanket and sipping this pipping hot… Hot chocolate with some garnish on top, enjoy it with your family n loved ones. Chocolate is such a beauty that sipping or having them brings a smile on anyone’s face, do you agree with this. I would like to say one more thing here, we many a times tend to ignore the product we buy, like the brand if something is cheap one jumps to buy that, saying it’s all the same only different brands price their product according to their demand, but that’s not true if you buy a high quality product the result will also vary to a huge extend, what I am saying is buy a good brand for chocolate powder here you will notice the change.

Hot chocolate

At times kids do get bored of having their regular milk with all the protein powder, they search for something special and different. My twins started asking me for hot chocolate, which I did oblige to. So thought of storing this yummy mixture.

Made them in bulk quantity and stored it in air tight container. Now, even if I am not at home they boil the milk and add hot chocolate premix… Voila… All good to go.

Sharing with you this simple recipe of hot chocolate premix, if you have a huge craze for them make and store. Serve them to your guests on any chilling winter day,this keeps one warm.

Hot chocolate

Hot Chocolate Premix

Ingredients

  • 125 grams milk powder
  • 100 grams powdered sugar or according to sweetness
  • 120 grams cocoa powder
  • 85 grams cornstarch

Ingredients for garnishing

  • 2 tablespoon chocolate chips
  • whipping cream for topping (optional)

Making of premix

  • Take a mixing bowl, add in cocoa powder, milk powder, powdered sugar, cornstarch give it a nice mix
  • See that there is no lumps
  • For better result seive it
  • Store it in air tight container and freeze
  • Your premix is ready for use
  • This lasts for 2 months in freezer.
Hot chocolate topped with whipping cream

Method of making Hot chocolate using premix

  • Take a saucepan boil 250 ml milk, once it starts boiling add 1 tablespoon premix powder
  • Boil it for 1 minutes till a bit thick
  • Add one tablespoon melted chocolate or if you have any chocolate bar use it
  • Boil again
  • Off the flame
  • Take serving glass add some chocolate chips
  • Pour in the hot chocolate
  • Add more premix powder if you want it thick
  • If you wish, top it up with some generous amount of whipping cream and garnish with chocolate chips
  • If you don’t have whipped cream that’s ok skip it
  • Garnish with more chocolate chips
  • A yummy Hot chocolate is ready to served

Corn starch can’t be skipped in this recipe as it gives thickness to Hot chocolate. Adjust premix powder according to your desired thickness

Kala Jamun juice

Kala Jamun juice

Ingredients

  • 1 cup de-seeded jamun/java plum
  • 1/4 cup sugar (or according to taste)
  • 1/4 tablespoon jeera powder /cumin
  • 1/4 tablespoon Kala namak /black salt (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 cup water

Method

  • Boil Jamun with water and sugar, for 2 minutes
  • Let it cool down completely
  • If you haven’t de-seeded the Jamun, do it after boiling
  • Pour the mixture in a blender
  • Add jeera powder, lemon juice and salt
  • Blend on high speed
  • Strain the Jamun pulp
  • This pulp is thick
  • store it in air tight container
  • And dilute it with water when serving
  • This stays fresh for a week, if you have boiled.
  • Serve it chilled
  • Kala Jamun juice is ready in this lovely weather.

What do you have as an energy drink after a lovely walk or workout… Some protein powder, I would suggest you to have this healthy smoothie as it has no preservatives and is freshly made with fresh fruits available in the house.

My son is a lover of all types of smoothie and milkshakes. This was also his favorite one. After finishing his regular exercise he craves for this.

Smoothie are made with raw fruits and vegetables with your favorite ice-cream, milk and yoghurt as the base same as milkshake.

There are green smoothie with spinach or kale, point is that you can explore with your smoothie.

Today’s smoothie is with mango and banana, instead of Greek yogurt I have used regular curd here.

Lassi is a traditional drink in India ,flavored with fruits, mint or be it salty. Lassi is an yoghurt based drink. Mango lassi is just like having milkshake.

Drinking Lassi has it’s own benefits. If one is suffering from acidity then this is the best drink for them. Lassi is good for digestion and skin.

Lassi is made with curd, add water to the curd and whisk is, dilute it and Lassi is ready. Add your flavor like if you want it salty or sweet.

Lemon -ginger tea

Ingredients

  • 1 lemon sliced
  • 1/2 inch ginger sliced
  • 1 tablespoon honey

Method

  • Take 1 cup water in a saucepan
  • Add in the sliced ginger and lemon
  • Boil till reduced to half
  • After boiling strain the tea in the cup
  • Add honey, mix it
  • Drink it warm every morning
  • This will keep your immunity strong

Tulsi tea

Ingredients

  • 1 glass water
  • 1/2 cup tulsi leaves
  • 1/2 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoon honey

Method

  • Take water in a saucepan add tulsi leaves
  • Boil it for 5 minutes
  • Strain into the glass
  • Add lemon juice and honey mix well and enjoy this healthy drink to keep yourself strong

Kadha

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup tulsi leaves
  • 4 to 5 cloves
  • 4 to 5 black pepper
  • 1/2 inch ginger
  • 2 to 3 darchini stick
  • 2 tablespoon honey

Method

  • Take a saucepan add in water
  • Now coarsely grind the spices using motor pestle
  • Add the mixture to water and boil till water reduces to half
  • Strain and add honey
  • Serve warm
  • A perfect Kadha for any cough and cold.

Rhododendron Tea/ Buransh ki chai


Me being a tea lover who loves to explore new variations now n then,just came across this Buransh tea.

One of my pahadi friends introduced me to this tea.A very popular tea with locals of Uttarakhand and Tibet.

Himalayan ranges being abode to many treasures some are known and some are yet to be discovered. Rhododendron flowers grows 4000 metres above sea level especially in Uttarakhand.

Medicinal benefits:

This flower holds a lot of medicinal properties.

Helps in digestion, reduces fever and swelling in abdomen.

A bright red bell shaped flower.The wood is used in making artefacts. The smoke released by burning of Buransh’s is said to be purifying the Himalaya’s.These flowers are handpicked and dried to retain their properties.

Buransh is considered sacred by the locals here.

Did you know Nepal’s national flower is Rhododendron flower.They are called ‘Laali Guraans’

Coming to the recipe,here the petals of these flower are sun dried and stored in an air tight container.To enhance the taste of this tea do add some basil leaves to them.

Brewing this tea is quite simple,boil water with sugar and buransh petals ,off the flame add half tea spoon of green tea cover with a lid for few seconds,strain and serve.

  • 2 cups water
  • 2 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoon Buransh leaves or tea
  • 1 tablespoon green tea

Method:

  • Boil water with sugar and buransh tea
  • Add green tea
  • Cover and leave it to settle
  • Strain and enjoy
  • Buransh ki chai is completely ready

The one I am using here is with basil leaves,you can just add in fresh basil leaves

This tea is available at all online portals as well.

Almond milk/Badam doodh


Old is gold we all have heard this and today I am talking about Almond milk or Badam doodh.In every Indian household one might have drank this soothing milk to boost your immunity or just to have a change in our regular milk.

Why we need to drink Almond milk/ Badam milk

Simple, it does change the taste as well it is one of the best health drink with power pack nutrition. Instead of adding store packed health drink powder to our milk go for home made version.

It all starts with soaking almonds/ badam for half an hour in warm water

Peeling the skin off and grinding it to a fine taste.You can add a tablespoon of milk while grinding the almond paste.

After the paste is ready, boil milk in a pan,pour the almond/ badam paste in the boiling milk and cook for five minutes or till the raw smell of the badam is gone.

Milk tends to get thicker after adding almond paste.Now to enhance the taste add 1/2 tablespoon elaichi/cardamom powder along with sugar,boil till sugar dissolves

Pour into glass and serve hot in winter’s and chilled in summer’s

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup badam/Almond soaked in warm water
  • 2 glass milk
  • 1/2 tablespoon elaichi powder
  • 2 tablespoon sugar
  • Fine slice of badam for garnish
Boiled almond milk

Method:

  • Soak badam for half an hour in warm water
  • Peel and grind to fine paste
  • Boil milk in a saucepan
  • Pour badam paste in the milk
  • Cook for 5 minutes or till raw smell of the almond is gone
  • While cooking milk starts to thicken
  • Add elaichi powder and sugar
  • Boil for few seconds
  • Pour them into glasses and serve hot
  • Badam milk is ready,enjoy it

Kesardoodh has a very special place in every Indian’s heart from our ancestors to our mother’s they will never go wrong with Kesar doodh and make it a point that every winter these nutrients are served to everyone in the family.

Kesar has a special place in Ayurveda, This protects from cold, good for the heart. Gives one a good sleep, Good for the skin also.

I have not added cardamom powder here as it overpowers the aroma of Kesar/saffron as this is Kesar doodh so let us keep it simple no need to make it fancy

Ingredients:

  • 2 glasses of milk
  • 8 to 10 strands of saffron
  • 2 tablespoon sugar

Method:

  • Boil milk in a saucepan, once it starts boiling add in saffron strands
  • Boil for 1 minute more
  • Add sugar
  • Off the flame and cover the milk half(so that the milk doesn’t get spoiled)
  • Leave it for 10 to 15 minutes, so that saffron dissolves well
  • After 15 minutes open the lid and just press the saffron strands with a spoon so that more flavour and colour are observed in the milk.
  • If you wish boil the milk again if it has gone cold.
  • Serve kesar doodh warm
  • A Healthy and nutritious drink is ready

Banana milkshake/ How to make Banana milkshake


Banana milkshake is a regular in my house as my son goes for his Cricket club practice and to keep him fit i do make Banana milkshake and give regularly. Banana has the energy to boost ones body and keep going. Banana Milkshake

Ingredients

  • 2 bananas
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon drinking chocolate or cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon coffee powder (instant)
  • chocolate syrup for decorating

Method

  • Just bring together all the ingredients in a blender
  • And blend
  • Serve it chilled
